Les uniques montagnes finlandaises culminent a 800m d´altitude. La chaine de Pallas offre de superbes randonnees avec vu sur la Norvege d´un cote et la Suede de l´autre. A l´horizon: forets de pins, lacs, rivieres, marais. La nature a perte de vu. Accompagnes par Lars, le vieux Lapon, nous avons parcouru, entre cailloux et bouleaux nains rampants, un peu plus d´un pipi de renne. Une mesure locale, equivalente a 6-7km, distance de marche apres laquelle les rennes font un arret pipi.

Yesterday evening Ester & Lars made a tour in the beautiful Haaravaara forest. We followed the ancient saami trail, and the turned east towards Marjakursu Creek. On of the paths that we will follow with the UCPA groups.

On the way back we met this mother capercaillie (grand tétras en frencais, Auerhahn auf deutsch). She is very well camoflauged, BUT her babies are even better protected. One is on the picture. Can You see it?

Rajamaa in Lapland is now participating in the Lapland Trophy Club.
It is a website where the biggest fishes caught in Lapland are shown.
As we have a very good fishing for grayling, there are already three nice graylings on the side for graylings.

Dank unseres Guides Matthias hatten wir einen super Fangtag. Am Viiksijärvi fingen wir zahlreiche Hechte, der grösste ca. 80-85 cm (siehe Bild). Danach konnten wir am Muonio noch ein paar kleine Äschen ueberlisten. Wir haben uns bei unserem kurzen Aufenthalt in Rajamaa sehr wohl gefuehlt und die Gastfreundschaft sehr genossen. Vielen Dank!

Il y a maintenqnt 3 jours que nous sommes ici et c'est le paradis pour les pêcheurs!
Mon fils et moi même ne sommes pas des champions et pourtant...
Le premier jour nous avons capture ( et relache ) un peu plus d´une vingtaine de brochets ainsi que 2 perches .
Les 2 plus gros mesuraient respectivement 97 cm et 80cm .
L'accueil est superbe et Kaisu et Lars ne savent pas quoi faire pour vous être agreable . La nourriture est excellente et copieuse , et , si vous etes fatigue par la civilisation et tous ses bruits , ici vos pourrez vous ressourcer .
Pas d'avions ,de trains et quasiment pas de voitures !!!
Sejour ideal , le retour a la ville ne sera pas evident !

Yesterday I made a tour in the forest, to prepare for the UCPA groups that will come.
The tree is very old, please try and count the rings. One for every year. It had experienced a lot....
The "King of the forest" had also walked there. This was a big one, as You can see from what he has left.

Vi är två ungdomar på 17 år som cyklar Sverige igenom och har kommit till Rajamaa och där åt vi en varsin macka och drack en coca cola var. Vilket var mycket gott :) Nu ska vi fortsätta uppåt mot treriksröset :D

Start meiner Reise war Düsseldorf.Mit der Finair flog ich nach Helsinki und von da aus nach Kittilä.Am Flughafen wurde ich dann auch schon von der freundlichen Frau Rajamaa abgeholt.Endlich angekommen!Ich bezog sofort meine Hütte.Nun aber zum Wasser,dort angekommen lag der schöne Fluss vor mir!Hier einmal Fliegenfischen dass war mei groser Traum!Schnell ging ich zur meiner Unterkunft und zog mich um Wathose an Fliegenrute und alles was man noch so braucht.Wieder am Fluss,jetzt noch eine Schöne Stelle finden.Hinter einem grosen Stein so etwa drei Meter vom Ufer wollte ich meine Fliege präsentieren.Äschen lieben diese Plätze dass wusste ich! Nach etwa zehn Wurfen ging mir schon die erste ins Netz es war eine schöne.Und es sollten weitere die Tage danach folgen!Jespa mein Guide zeigte mir noch einige super Stellen wo ich den Fahneträgern nach stellte.Eine Reise die sich bis jetzt auf jeden Fall schon gelohnt hat,ich werde wieder kommen!

Yesterday I made a tour along the very old Saami trail at Jyryjoki Creek. Partly it is easy to follow partly not. Today when there are roads, these old trails are not used so mych anymore. Except for the Rajamaa trekking groups. We often try to go along these traditional trails.
Jyryjoki Creek has steep sides, with the little River Jyryjoki far down. A very nice tour.

The weather is nice with 20 C, cloudy, and aboslutely no wind. Jesper the Guide and his fishermen (from Germany and Sweden) just left for the River. They will be fishing at Marjapaikka today.

Two of Jesper Larssons secret lakes provided great sport for Pike and Grayling on the fly. The first lake is stuffed with Pike and Perch that readily take surface flies, spinners and plugs. With the right conditions this can be explosive action. The second lake is alive with wild Grayling and Trout that feed from the surface in a frenzy when there is a hatch. With the right surface fly this can be a magical moment. Great stuff. Finally, a big thank you to Lars and Kaisu Malmström and all the team at Rajamaa for making me feel so welcome and providing a wonderful fishing holiday destination.

Cést la fin de notre sejour nous allons quitter rajamaa avec beaucoup de regrets mais quels souvenirs.Les rivieres regorgent dómbres et de brochets.láccueil de nos hotes á ete super.Nous avons meme trouve le temps de faire une excurtion dans les fjords de Norvege á mons de tois heures de route.
Nous vous conseillons Rajamaa.

Mitte April sind wir mit unseren Rädern in Bern/Schweiz gestartet. Unsere Reise fuehrte uns via Muenchen, Köln, Bremen, Nordseekueste bis Esbjerg. Von dort, mit dem Wind im Ruecken bis Kopenhagen. Bis dahin waren wir einen Monat unterwegs. Mit dem Zug gings ueber die grosse Bruecke nach Malmö. Ab dort gings mehr oder weniger weiter nordwärts. Wir streifen Eksjö, fahren entlang dem Vätternsee, von dort steuern wir den Siljansee an. Dann fuhren wir weiter an die Ostkueste nach Sundsvall. Wir beschliessen nach dem Zickzack durch Suedschweden, wieder direkter nordwärts zu fahren und nehmen die E4. Mit dem Rad ist diese Strasse der reinste Horror. Trotzdem bleiben wir drauf bis Töre. Unterwegs haben wir uns die Höga Kusten angeschaut, sowie Skuleskogen Nationalpark, der wirklich sehr schön ist, obwohl er uns an unserem Ruhetag einen 12 km Marsch und 20 km Anfahrt per Rad bescherrt hat.
Ab Töre fuhren wir via E10 zum Jockfall, dann nordöstlich nach Pajala. Dort feiern wir den 5000 km unserer Reise. Bis da sind wir noch ohne grössere Pannen durchgekommen. Noch einen letzen Tag Schweden, beschlossen wir gestern morgen und fahren auf der Strasse 99 Richtung Karesuando, mit dem Ziel bei Muonio nach Finnland zu fahren. Diese 99-er Strasse ist momentan (oder vielleicht auch immer?) eine ziemliche Baustelle mit Schotterabschnitten. Einen davon hat David etwas zu schnell in Angriff genommen, sodass sich auf dem Reifen eine Blase bildet die plötzlich - PENG - explodiert, und David läuft auf den Felgen. Wir also mitten in der Pampa, ohne Pneu. Ein Mann der kein Wort Englisch spricht hält an, ruft seine Frau an, sagt, auf sein Auto zeigend "Brumm, Brumm" und fährt davon. Nach einer halben Stunde kommt er mit Reifenflicken zurueck. Es ist schon halb sieben als wir weiterfahren können, so steuern wir den erst besten Camping an, Rajamaa, und werden, sobald auskommt das wir aus der Schweiz sind mit einem herzlich "hoi" empfangen.
Und einen neuen Reifen hat man uns auch vermittelt. Den werden wir nun abholen und unseren Weg Richtung Nordkapp fortsetzen.

Another wonderful day with fishing guide Jesper. Although weather conditions were changeable, Grayling were rising freely to dry fly and some really excellent sport. A small sedge pattern did the trick with a superb grayling of 500mm towards the end of the day as the sunshine came through. Thanks again to all the team at Rajamaa for a fantastic day.
